SARATOGA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 2004-- Ekahau Inc. today announced that Proxim Corporation (NASDAQ:PROX - News), has selected the Ekahau Site Survey 2.1 (ESS 2.1) WiFi network planning and verification tool as one of the key components of Proxim's new ORiNOCO Smart Wireless Suite software package. ESS 2.1 saves time in all phases of Wi-Fi network planning and deployment by combining easy network planning, accurate site survey information with easy to understand visualization and reporting.

ESS presents a streamlined approach to 802.11a/b/g network design, deployment and verification. It creates visualizations of RF coverage, based on actual RF performance data. Unlike other tools that rely solely on inaccurate theoretical models, with ESS one can perform a quick site survey of an entire facility in a fraction of the time it would take to complete using traditional survey methods. The ESS Planner module accurately predicts and simulates Wi-Fi performance on a computer screen, prior to network deployment, giving network planners and administrators a very good idea of the anticipated network layout and performance. A drag-and-drop user interface allows customization of facility floor maps, with factors such as wall materials and locations, access point antenna options and transmit power. Key parameters that ESS captures, analyzes and displays include RSSI (Signal Strength), Interference, SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio), Strongest Access Point(s), Total Access Point Count, Signals at Channel and Data Rates.
